Regenerative Futures
A movement connecting land, culture, and community
Cobana is a gathering place and active node in a growing network of bioregional initiatives connecting Transylvania with regenerative communities around the world.
Together we are weaving local narratives, exchanging indigenous and place-based knowledge, and co-creating futures that honour land, culture and community.
The Pillars of our Work
Shared Narratives Across Bioregions
Cobana is developing a cross-bioregional practice of gathering and weaving stories — from Transylvanian farmers and craftspeople, to Changpa nomadic youth in Ladakh and mountain communities in Nepal. Visiting groups participate as active contributors, helping surface what regenerative futures look and feel like from the inside, across radically different landscapes. This is sensemaking as a collective act, not a communication exercise.
Living Labs and EU Innovation
Cobana is an active partner in HORIZON funding proposals with DEEP Ecosystems — to create Living Labs that connect physical hubs like Cobana with academic institutions, local government, businesses, and communities. Together we are building infrastructure for co-creation that turns regional challenges into shared opportunities, rooted in place and backed by institutional depth.
Co-Curated Residencies
Cobana hosts residencies co-curated with professional community holders who bring aligned groups to Transylvania with a live question — about regenerative business, ecotourism, bioeconomy, land stewardship, or community development. Groups connect directly with the local regenerative network and, through our partner exchange programme, with practitioners around the world. The residency is the container; the bioregion is the curriculum.
The Vision
We envision a world where:
- Local and global voices blend in service of the land and its communities
- Traditional ecological knowledge meets cutting-edge regenerative practice
- Economic activity regenerates rather than extracts from natural and social systems
- A new generation of planetary citizens emerges, rooted in place yet connected globally
