From Wrong Trains to Right Decisions—My Serendipitous Journey to Cobana
Ever had one of those travel days where everything seems to go wrong, but then suddenly, it all falls into place? Yeah, that was me yesterday. Picture this: I’m standing in Brasov station, proud of myself for navigating the Romanian train system like a pro. Or so I thought.
After a three-hour wait (because, you know, why rush?), I confidently boarded what I believed was my train to Zărnești. Spoiler alert: it wasn’t.
As I settled in, congratulating myself on my travel savvy, a Romanian lady asked me a question. Now, my Romanian vocabulary consists of “mulțumesc” and “bună ziua,” so I just smiled politely. Luckily afterwards, a bilingual guardian angel nearby translated for me: “Is this the train to Bucharest?”
Bucharest? BUCHAREST?! I had just come from there! In a moment of panic, I realized I was on the wrong train, about to embark on a three-hour journey back to where I started. Talk about a plot twist!
Thanks to this serendipitous exchange, I managed to leap onto the correct train mere minutes before it departed. If any part of that conversation hadn’t happened, I’d be writing this from Bucharest, probably crying into a plate of mici.
But fate had other plans, and those plans led me straight to Cobana. And let me tell you, it was worth every near-miss and moment of panic.
As soon as I stepped into David’s place, I knew I’d made the right choice (finally!). The Scandinavian-inspired decor immediately caught my eye – bright walls, spacious layout, and windows so big they practically invite the forest inside. It’s like hygge met Romanian charm and decided to have a really aesthetically pleasing baby.
The kitchen? It’s not just a kitchen, it’s a social hub with three tables. Perfect for when you want to pretend you’re cooking but really just want to chat. And don’t even get me started on the beds. As someone who’s slept on mattresses that could double as medieval torture devices, finding a comfy bed here was like winning the sleep lottery.
Outside, there’s a balcony that overlooks a yard and hill that’s practically begging for Instagram photoshoots. And for all my fellow vitamin D enthusiasts (you know, the normal kind, not the ‘perineum sunning’ crowd – let’s keep our pants on, haha), there are lounge chairs perfect for soaking up some rays and setting that circadian rhythm just right.
So here I am, settled into my new home away from home, ready to dive into my startup journey. Sure, getting here was a bit of an adventure, but isn’t that what life’s all about?
Stay tuned for more updates on my Cobana experience and my longevity startup journey. And remember, sometimes the wrong train can lead you to exactly the right place!
